Sabbath gift of time

In the Genesis records of our origins, creation had a day of rest after being made. Yahweh had a day of rest after creating. Evermore, this day of rest was gifted to humanity and commanded as a weekly observance.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Exodus‬ ‭20:8‬

This Sabbath day of rest creates things in our lives that cannot be found any other way.

Each week we have a pause to consider the gift of open time.

Human time is usually full of things like working, planning, striving, reaping, earning, achieving, tasking, creating, dreaming, hoping...

Sabbath breathes in with a refreshing pause.

Yahweh.
Source of Life.
Sustainer of Life.
The One who spans time and eternity.
Creator of sunshine and oceans and heartbeats.
And you.
Yahweh Loves you.

Sabbath is open time to pull our little earth hands from work and set them into His eternal hands, and simply be.

In our Mission Collab community, we are considering how to embrace Sabbath as a weekly practice. We are pondering:

  • What can we do (or not do) in order to "be" on Sabbath?

  • What does it look like to remember and keep Sabbath?

  • What helps us connect with Yahweh? How does Yahweh love to be loved by us?

  • How can we engage your five senses in experiencing Yahweh's goodness?

Let’s practice resting and enjoying the gift of Sabbath as a journey of being in connection with Yahweh.
